Garden No 1: The Garden to Explore

A garden to complement a newly-built house on a long, thin ‘pizza slice’ plot, overgrown with brambles, ivy and nettles. The garden was actually being used to store the materials of a haulage company. The soil was compacted and the site slopes away from the house to an
area which regularly floods in winter. The whole design is based on stimulating a desire to explore the garden and there is a lot to see on many levels. A series of pools drop away to a spectacular koi pond and waterfall. At the bottom, a bog garden with reed beds and dogwoods is wonderfully informal and a real haven for wildlife.
