Garden No 3: The Large, Family Garden

Situated on chalk downland, this arts and crafts garden was created on a previously derelict site. The scheme for the main garden exudes a sense of formality and grandeur – in sympathy with the large, elegant detached house on the plot – and, at its heart, is a large pool and rill. The garden has a spaciousness ideal for relaxation and family entertaining and includes a new outdoor swimming pool which is screened by exotic planting and trellis. In contrast to the formal, geometric layout of the garden is a spectacular wild meadow where four different varieties of orchids grow naturally together along with white helleborine, harebells, scabious and over 100 other species.
